A businessman’s love of food.
18 July 2008Food is such a wonderful thing. I find it strange to think that some people digest it three times a day and don’t enjoy it- it must be awful. So many people eat the same thing every day- or have a ‘menu’ for the week that they religiously stick to. When you have the opportunity to eat such a variety of foodstuff, I think it’s such a waste if you stick to your ‘hot dogs on Tuesday, lasagne on Thursday, meatballs on Sunday’ routine.
I have to travel a lot with business. My love of food is sometimes compromised by this and sometimes enhanced. You see, I have quite an important job, which I can’t really talk about on here, and when I travel I can’t afford to get ill from dodgy food. All I really want to be doing is indulging from every food street seller and backstreet restaurant. Everyone knows that’s where you’ll always get the best food. Unfortunately, I spend most of my time at corporate events and the like, high exposure and not a lot of time to disappear off somewhere exciting by myself.
More often than not, these exotic sounding business centres will serve you what they think you want to eat- ie. dull menus from the country you’ve just left. But sometimes, just sometimes, a catering company will get it just right. Damac Foods is by far and away my favourite international catering company, but there are a few others that have done really well recently. And the good news? It’s getting better and better.
